Twenty-Seven

Alright, universe. I’m anticipating this is the year my Benjamin Button symptoms begin cropping up AND I STOP AGEING! It didn’t happen last year, nor the year before that! Don’t let me down here!

Well then, I guess I made it through another year on this wacky planet. A great feat, I know. Yeah, no, I actually hate birthdays. My own, anyways. Of course, there’s the issue of getting older, but I’ve also never liked the idea of celebrating just one more year of being alive. And then bringing people into the whole thing, to celebrate that fact? Oh god no. Phoebe actually tried that this year. The whole surprise party type deal. It’s a lovely thought, and I’m thankful for that, but once I got an idea of it I quickly shut that down. I’m sorry, it’s just not for me.

Anyway, I did do stuff for my birthday this year. I had fun. Got the whole breakfast in bed deal, gifts, my absolute favorite food dish (which is traditionally a Christmas dish but I got hold of the stuff), lazy day at home just gaming and having fun, and then the theatre. Dunkirk. (Very good, 8/10)

We went camping the day after. It was really lovely too. Nice bbq food, swimming, and hanging out with some friends. It was my first camping trip in quite a while.

Look at her, she a cutie

Lastly, I need to share a picture of the gift she got me. I know this was a really expensive item, and though I was and am overjoyed to have received it and to have this glorious thing in my possession, there is that voice, deep, deep within me, telling me how I don’t want her spending this kind of money on me. I’m just some doofus, please don’t waste your cash on me.

Anyway:

Just looking at this can cause gooseflesh to sporadicly appear on different parts of my body. Sometimes my butt.

This is the Dark Tower Omnibus hardcover two volume slipcase edition. It collects the first five long volumes of Marvel’s Dark Tower series. It chronicles Roland’s past, and we get more of his original Ka-Tet. It fell in love with the two members of his first group in the fourth novel in the Dark Tower series, ‘Wizard & Glass’, and I wanted more. Sadly, King didn’t do more on those, except for one, in the last additional book he wrote into the universe ‘The Wind Through the Keyhole’, which I have yet to read (I am currently stuck one third into ‘Wolves of Calla’. I don’t find it that engaging. Weirdly enough Wizard & Glass is the novel which usually stops readers in their tracks in Dark Tower, but for me it was this one).

So yeah, I’m going to jump into this beast now. šŸ™‚

Also, with my birthday weekend over and all, Phoebe is gone again, continuing that awesome wall art she’s working on for family. I miss her. Summer is kind of lame (and allergies), and I look forward to Autumn.
